Bill served in the Army Air Force during WWII and retired from the former C. H. Masland & Sons in Carlisle after 34 years of service. He was a member of Carlisle First Church God, a life member of Eagles Aerie 1299, White Circle Club and V.F.W. Post 477, all of Carlisle. Bill enjoyed hunting and fishing.

He is survived by several nieces and nephews including; Charles Rider, Patti Boson, Kay Russell and Joseph Rider, Sr. Bill was preceded in death by brothers; Robert, Alfred and Allen Rider.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, February 23, 2012, at 2 p.m. in the Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, 630 S. Hanover St., Carlisle. Rev. D. Alan Mathna will officiate. Burial will be in Cumberland Valley Memorial Gardens, Carlisle. Viewing will be held on Thursday from 1 p.m. until time of services.
