William G. Ellis, Jr., 85, of Newville, passed away on Sunday, June 28, 2026, at home with his loving family by his side. He was born on January 19, 1941, in Frederick, Maryland and was a son of the late William Ellis, Sr. and Edna R. (Miller) Ellis.

Bill served in the U. S. Marines and was honorably discharged in 1965. He earned his G.E.D. from Carlisle High School. Bill worked for Union Quarries in Carlisle and retired as a plant supervisor with more than 35 years of service. He was a member of Big Spring United Lutheran Church, Newville, a longtime Masonic member of the Carlisle Lodge and a member of the Newville American Legion Post 421.

He is survived by his wife of 17 years Saundra (Barrick) Longacre Ellis, four daughters, Cynthia L. and husband (John) Payo of Dillsburg, Theresa M. (Norman) Landry of Carlisle, Billie-Jo (Randy) Kane, Newville and Jill McDonald of New Bloomfield, one brother Robert Ellis of Carlisle, one sister Dorothy Shenck of Mifflinburg, 10 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and his sweet dog, Bella. Bill was preceded in death by his first wife Auzine (Harvey) Ellis, two sons, Clifford Ellis and Eddie Longacre, four brothers, Edward, Richard, David and Kenneth Ellis and one sister Anna Moore.

A Celebration of Bill’s life will be held at the Big Spring United Lutheran Church, 101 Crossroad School Rd, Newville, at 2:00 pm on Saturday, July 11, 2026, with Rev. Jenny Richards officiating. A visitation will be at the church from 1:00 until time of the service. The burial will be private.
