W. Nelson Paxton, 92, of Carlisle, died Wednesday, September 3, 2013, at Thornwald Home, Carlisle with his loving family by his side. He was born Oct. 28, 1920, in Mt. Holly Springs, the son of the late Walter G. and Ruth (Nelson) Paxton, and was married to the late Gwendolyn (Newlon) Paxton, who died April 21, 1989.

Nelson was a 1938 graduate of Boiling Springs High School and also graduated from the former Carlisle Commercial College. Nelson retired in 1985 after 45 years of service with the former C. H. Masland & Sons in Carlisle. He was the Supervisor of the Personnel Department. Nelson was a member of Carlisle Church of Christ and the 25 year and 40 year clubs with C. H. Masland & Sons.

He is survived by one daughter, Linda K. Miller (husband, Barry) of Mechanicsburg and four granddaughters; Kristi Hockenberry (husband, J. Dean) of Waycross, GA, Kayla Yegros (husband, Mauri) of Pompano Beach, FL, Kelsey Rotz of Mechanicsburg and Katelyn Rotz of Mechanicsburg and four great-grandchildren.

Graveside service for family and close friends will be held on Saturday, September 7, 2013, at 10:30 a.m. in the Filey's Cemetery, Dillsburg, York County. Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, Carlisle, is in charge of arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to Carlisle Church of Christ.
