Vonnie L. Jones

Vonnie L. Jones, 66, of Carlisle, passed away on Friday, October 9, 2026, at UPMC Harrisburg with family by her side. Vonnie was born on July 27, 1960, in Carlisle to the late John W. Swigert and June C. (Monismith) Swigert Weller. She was married to her loving husband Steven P. Jones.

She graduated from Carlisle High School in 1978. Vonnie worked as the night manager for over ten years at the Cumberland Valley Travel Plaza on the Turnpike. Vonnie had also worked for the CTS Crystal plant (Reeves-Hoffman) in Carlisle. She was a member of the Carlisle Moose Lodge 761. Vonnie was always there for everyone. She loved spending time with her family, going to the beach and watching her grandchildren and great-grandchildren in their sports. Vonnie’s generosity, quiet strength, vibrant spirit and work ethic enriched our lives in ways words cannot fully capture.

In addition to her husband she is survived by her children, Beth (husband Chris) Beecher of Newville, Scott (wife Sylvia) Chestnut of Newville, Megan (husband Joseph) Hoffer of Lebanon, Alisha Jones of York and Brittany Jones and partner Zach of Red Lion, her sister Karla Roberts of Carlisle, eleven grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brother John Swigert and her sister Debra Morrow.

There will be a visitation starting at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, October 19, 2026, at Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, 630 S. Hanover St. Carlisle. Followed by a celebration of life at 3:00 p.m., officiated by Rev. Joseph Kugle. Burial will be private. www.EwingBrothers.com
