IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Virginia A.
Harrison
June 15, 1937 – July 13, 2024
Virginia Alice Harrison, known to the world as Ginny passed away peacefully on Saturday July 13, 2024, after experiencing an unexpected respiratory failure. Born in Washington DC on June 15, 1937, to Ellis (Luke) and Elizabeth (Liz) Harrison, she spent the majority of her youth in Columbus, Ohio, graduating from Upper Arlington high school. She married Charlie Stoup and lived in Boston, Trinidad, Columbus, and Kentucky before finally settling in Carlisle, Pennsylvania for the remainder of her life.
She blessed the world with her kindness and charm as was reflected by all who knew her. She was an active member of St. John's Episcopal Church in Carlisle and served as a Youth Group leader for many years becoming a second mom to many of its members. She was an avid tennis player and golfer for most of her life. Her friends on the court and course remember her for her sense of adventure, spin shots on the tennis court and straight shots at golf which blew past theirs. Mostly, she will be remembered for her wonderful smile and endearing sense of humor.
After her divorce she retained her maiden name and resided in a log cabin along the banks of the Conodoguinet Creek, just outside of Carlisle. Granny's cabin, as the kids called it, became a center point for a great many memories for her extended family and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers Ellis (Skip), Hugh (Mike), and Donny. She is survived by three sons Chuck Stoup and wife Anne, Mark Stoup and wife Mary, and David Stoup and wife Amy. She is also survived by 17 grandchildren. She has 6 grandchildren through Chuck and previous marriage with Pat: James and wife Lauren, Jennifer Andersen and husband Nick, Janna, Jolyne and fiance Christof Wittreich, Jordynn, and Jaelin (JT). She has 7 grandchildren through Mark: Kaycee Douglas Hamilton and husband Alexander Hamilton, Katie Elizabeth Trotter and husband Jonathan Trotter, Kenzie Mae, Karlee Marie, Kobey Yohannes, Konley Moges, Kelby Amanuel. She also has 4 grandchildren through David: Zachary (Zach), Anna, Madelyn (Maddie), and Allison (Allie). She has a total of 6 great grandchildren. Through Chuck's children Jennifer, she has Mikey and Jackie, and through James has Theodore (Theo). Through Mark's children, Kaycee, she has Ammnuel, Alijah, and Arie, and through Katie she has Kairo.
Just as the waters of the creek she loved keeps flowing, so will our memories of her keep flowing in our hearts.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made on behalf of Ginny Harrison for the Youth Group at St. John's Episcopal Church in Carlisle Pennsylvania.
A Christian mass will be held to celebrate the life of Virginia Harrison on Saturday, September 14th at 11:00 AM at the St. John's Episcopal Church in Carlisle Pennsylvania. A reception will follow at the church after the service. www.EwingBrothers.com.
