Virginia G. Dunkleberger, 85, of Newville, passed away on Wednesday, September 21, 2016 at her home. She was born on July 24, 1931 in Chambersburg, and was a daughter of the late Luther Fisher and Martha (Rhoads) Fisher and was the widow of James E. Dunkleberger, who died July 9, 2001.

Virginia retired from the former C. H. Masland & Sons in Carlisle after 16 years of service and then worked for the Dollar General Store in Carlisle for nearly 9 years. She enjoyed country music and loved taking care of and talking to her pet parakeet, "Skipper".

She is survived by three daughters; Doris (and her husband, Art) Horn of Carlisle, Phyllis (and her husband, Harry) Weaver of Carlisle and Sandy (and her husband, Mark) VanMeter of Newville, her step-mother, Mildred Fisher of Newville, a half-brother, Ray (and his wife, Bonnie) Snyder of Carlisle, one step-brother, Larry Snyder, 8 grandchildren, 6 step-grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, 6 great-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by brothers; Louis, Glenn, Paul and Victor Fisher and one sister, Martha Thrush.

A graveside service will begin at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, September 26, 2016 in the Cumberland Valley Memorial Gardens, 1921 Ritner Highway, Carlisle with Pastor Alan Myers officiating. Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, Carlisle, is in charge of the arrangements. www.Since1853.com.
