Virginia R. Bailey Russell, 95, of Carlisle, passed away on Tuesday, October 6, 2015 at Claremont Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Carlisle. She was born June 12, 1920 in Shippensburg, a daughter of the late Samuel Howard Reed and Ida Mae (Baughman) Bailey.

Virginia retired from Big Spring School District after 10 years of service in the custodial department. She also worked at the former Carlisle Tire & Rubber Co. for 18 years. She was a member of Good Shepherd Community United Methodist Church, Carlisle.

She is survived by three sons; Jack Bailey and Jerry Bailey, both of Carlisle and James Bailey of Scotland, two daughters; Joyce Bailey Lehman of Wassilla, AK and Janice Wiser of Huntingdon, many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Virginia was predeceased by one son, Donald Jay Bailey, one brother, Donald Reed, one grandson, Jeff Bailey and one great-grandson, Travis Dechene.

A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 14, 2015 in the Good Shepherd Community United Methodist Church, 2135 Ritner Highway, Carlisle, PA 17015. Rev. Scott Hocker will officiate. Interment will be private at Upper Frankford Brick Church Cemetery. Memorial donations in Virginia's name may be made to her church. Ewing Brothers Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
