Obituary

Virginia R. Adams, 85, of Carlisle, passed away on Sunday, November 3, 2024 at UPMC Carlisle.  She was born on November 16, 1938 in Harrisburg, and was a daughter of the late George W. Yentzer and Ruth V. (Hershey) Yentzer. She was the widow of Leslie K. Adams who passed away in 1998.

Virginia worked many jobs over the years, she drove a children's handicap transportation van, worked at Boscov's and the S&H Store. She and her husband owned L&P Service Center, L&P Excavation, and Carlisle Auto Sales. She was a member of the Carlisle Church of God on N. College St. in Carlisle.

She is survived by her two sons, James (his wife Teresa) Adams of Franklintown, PA, and Les (his wife Brenda) Adams of Russel Springs, KY, two daughters, Kim (her husband Anthony) Butler of Mechanicsburg, PA, and Debra (her husband Michael) Ickes of Newville, PA, her brothers Jack (his wife Beulah) Yentzer and Rodney (his wife Carol) Yentzer,  two sisters, Bonnie (her husband John) Bixler, and Karen (her husband Christopher) Brinley, 17 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, and many loved nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her son Terry Adams, brother Robert Yentzer, and her sister Judy Saltsburg.

Virginia was loved by many and loved her family dearly. She loved the Lord Jesus Christ with all her heart.  Mom was dedicated to her church family, reading her bible and sharing the word of God.  She loved being around people, always lending a helping hand and usually trying to take charge in the process.  She was spunky acquiring the nickname "recycled teenager."  She wasn't just our mom, she was all of our friend's mom, she was "the momma."  Mom loved life and lived it to the fullest. Music was so important to her.  She played it loud and loved to sing along.  She enjoyed plays, musicals, the beach, traveling and bus trips, really anything that kept her active.

Momma, I'm thankful for the peace in knowing you are in Jesus arms now.  It's not goodbye but rather until we meet again.  We love you.  You will be missed.

A visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 9, 2024 followed by a memorial service at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Dean Ramsey officiating in the Carlisle Church of God 458 N. College St. Carlisle, PA, 17013. There will be a reception after the service in the church fellowship hall.
