Violet A Bretz, 96, of Carlisle, died Wednesday, December 29, 2010 at Carlisle Regional Medical Center. She was born on Thursday, April 2, 1914, in Enola, a daughter of the late William Huntsberger and Alda (Shumberger) Huntsberger and the widow of Joseph W. Bretz.

Violet was a graduate of Enola High School and retired from the former Carlisle Tire and Rubber Co. She was a former member of the First United Methodist Church in Carlisle. Violet enjoyed reading and her dog, Sarah.

She is survived by her daughter, Nancy V. Howe of Carlisle and several other extended family members.

Burial will be at the convenience of the family in St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church Cemetery, Silver Spring Twp. Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, Carlisle, is in charge of arrangements.

Nancy, Don & I will greatly miss your Mother. She was a very sweet lady and a great neighbor. I will really miss talking to her when she would be outside with her dog. You and your family have our sympathy. Our prayers are with you. If you need anything we are right next door.

We have delivered Meals on Wheels every Monday to Violet. We enjoyed our brief visits with her. She was always pleasant and friendly. She will be sorely missed.
