Viola F. (Hoover) Smith, 94, a resident of the Church of God Home in Carlisle and formerly of Newville, died on Tuesday, December 3, 2024, at the home.  She was born on July 31, 1930, in Newville and was a daughter to the late Jacob F. Hoover Sr. and Grace M. (Garland) Hoover. She was the widow of Lester A. Smith, who passed away July 25, 2002.

She was a homemaker and a member of Christian Life Community Church in Newville.

Viola is survived by several nieces, nephews, and friends she considered family. She was proceeded in death by 3 brothers, Oscar W. Hoover, Jacob F. Hoover Jr., and Clarence Hoover, 2 sisters, Helen Miller, and Paulina A. Hoover.

There will be a graveside service Tuesday, December 10, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. in the Upper Frankford Brick Church Cemetery, Newville with Pastor Kurt Kimmel officiating.
