Vesta R. Carper Gast, 99, of Carlisle, passed away on Wednesday, November 12, 2025, at Church of God Home, Carlisle.  She was born on March 7, 1926, in Carlisle and was a daughter of the late Harry S. Porter and Myrtle (Shoap) Volinski.  She was the widow of Harry H. Carper who passed away Jan. 15, 1967, and Emil H. Gast who passed away on October 8, 2012.

Vesta retired from the Church of God Home after 20 years of service in housekeeping and worked as a school bus driver for Deitch's Bus Company for many years.  She formerly attended St. Matthew Lutheran Church, Plainfield.  Vesta was very skilled in drawing.

She is survived by one son Robert Carper of Greencastle, one daughter Susan (Howard) Naugle of Shippensburg, many grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by one daughter Romaine Carper, one son William Carper and one brother Stewart Porter.

A viewing will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, November 21, 2025, followed by the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. in the Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, 630 S. Hanover St., Carlisle with Martha Bistline officiating.  The burial will be in Westminster Memorial Gardens, Carlisle.  www.EwingBrothers.com.
