Vera A. Madison, 89, of Carlisle, passed away on Sunday, December 8, 2019 at Church of God Home, Carlisle.  She was born on April 19, 1930 in Shermansdale, Perry County and was a daughter of the late Emmanuel Howard Adams and Elizabeth (Messimer) Adams.  Vera was the widow of Richard R. Madison who passed away on June 6, 2006.

She was a 1947 graduate of Carlisle High School.  Vera was a devoted homemaker and had worked as a secretary with the former Federal Equipment Co. and the former Bedford Shoe Co. both of Carlisle.  She attended Young's United Methodist Church, Mechanicsburg.  Vera enjoyed baking, painting, cooking, spending time with her family and loved listening to country music.

She is survived by three daughters: Linda M. (Matthew) Barnhart of Womelsdorf, Lori A. (Elaine Dellinger) Madison of Carlisle and Lisa M. Carelli of Mechanicsburg, two grandsons; Daniel (Alison) Silver Spring, MD and Matthew Carelli of Mechanicsburg and several nieces and nephews.  Vera was preceded in death by eight siblings.

A viewing will begin at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 12, 2019 followed by funeral services at 2:00 p.m. in the Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, 630 S.
