Velma L. (Bailey) Burkholder, 101, passed away on Saturday, August 21, 2021, in the Orrstown Personal Care Home.  She was born on April 13, 1920, in Newville and was a daughter of the late William and Pearl I. Jumper Bailey and the widow of Earl J. Burkholder who passed away on January 9, 2001.

Velma was a homemaker who loved taking care of her family.  She was a member of the Big Spring Heights Church of God, Newville.

She is survived by one son Ray. T. (wife Sheryl) Burkholder of Newville, two daughters, Doris J. Houck of Newville and Linda K. Wilt of Landisburg, three brothers, Raymond "Tom" Bailey, Ralph Bailey and William Bailey, six grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, 7 great-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.  Velma was preceded in death by one son Robert L. Burkholder, two sons-in-law, William R. Houck and James R. Wilt, five brothers and six sisters.

A graveside service will begin at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 25, 2021, in the Westminster Memorial Gardens, 1159 Newville Rd, Carlisle, PA 17013 with Pastor Russ Negley as the officiant.  Memorial contributions may be made to Big Spring Heights Church of God, 10 Mt.
