Tillie R. Hodge, age 96, of Carlisle, passed away on Tuesday, February 9, 2010, in the Carlisle Regional Medical Center. She was born on January 14, 1914, in New Windsor, MD, and was a daughter of the late James A. and Mary A. (Thompson) Roberts, and the widow of Humbert G. Hodge, who died April 3, 1984.

She was a 1933 graduate of Gettysburg High School, and retired in 1976 from the State of PA Department of Unemployment Compensation after 30 years of service. Tillie was a member of the West Street A.M.E. Zion Church, Carlisle and where she served on the Stewardess Board. She was also a member of A.A.R.P., N.A.A.C.P., N.A.R.F.E. and the Salvation Army Senior Action Center.

Tillie is survived by nieces; Brenda Leacock and Jill Roberts and nephews; Bruce Nunery, James Roberts, Keith Leacock and a sister-in-law, Corrie Roberts. Tillie also leaves a host of new friends who cared for her during the last 7 months of her life.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, February 18, 2010, at 1:00 p.m. in the Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, 630 S. Hanover St., Carlisle with Rev. Kenneth R. Newman of the West Street Church officiating. A viewing will be held on Thursday from 12 Noon until the time of the services. Burial will be in the Cumberland Valley Memorial Gardens, Carlisle.
