Obituary

Sylvester S. "Tyke" Anderson, Jr., 59, of Carlisle, died suddenly on Sunday, December 30, 2012, at Carlisle Regional Medical Center. He was born on Wednesday, December 30, 1953, in Carlisle, a son of the late Sylvester S. Anderson, Sr. and Hannah (Jackson) Anderson.

Tyke was a 1973 graduate of Carlisle High School, where he played varsity football, basketball and baseball. He was currently employed with CenturyLink as a telephone line repairman. Tyke had been employed with the local Carlisle telephone company since 1975. He was a member of Sons of American Legion Haines-Stackfield Post 826, Carlisle and the York County Black Golfers Association. Tyke formerly coached the Bellaire Bulldogs basketball team for 20 years and also coached the Carlisle Pony football team for 12 years.

He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 27 years, Robin "Anna" (Day) Anderson, two sons; Christopher McFalls and Sylvester Stallone Sadler Anderson, both of Carlisle, two daughters; Getia L. White and Keeona N. Day, both of York, one brother, Marshall "Marty" Anderson and his wife, Sue of Carlisle, 7 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 7, 2013, at 1:00 p.m. in the Carlisle Alliance Church, 237 E. North St., Carlisle, with Rev. Duane Coleman and Rev. Alfred Moten officiating. Burial will be in Cumberland Valley Memorial Gardens, Carlisle. A viewing will be held at the church on Monday from 12:00 noon until time of the service. Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, Carlisle, is in charge of arrangements.
