IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Sueann Grace
Roberge
September 4, 1957 – August 5, 2024
SueAnn Grace Roberge passed away on Monday, August 5, 2024, at home with her loving family by her side. She was born on September 4, 1957, in Norwich, Connecticut and was the daughter of Roberta Smead Elnicki and the late John Livingston Mell. She was married September 11, 1976 to Brian Robert Roberge. They created a beautiful and fulfilling life together.
SueAnn was in many ways, the heart of her family and home, the administrator and encourager, she was always full of love and hugs for family and friends. Always willing to go out of her way for others, she filled the role of counselor, and friend in countless lives. She has left a mark on this world and on our hearts. SueAnn was passionate and considerate, gutsy and vibrant. Known far and wide as the butterfly lady, she served with integrity and honor as a daughter, a wife, a mother, grandmother and a friend. She may have lost the two-year battle to cancer, but Jesus has won the war. She ran her race well and lived in such a way as to make her Heavenly Father say, "Well done, my beautiful daughter."
Because of her faith-filled relationship with Jesus and her own spiritual journey, SueAnn dedicated her life to healing the world around her and held many positions of public service and informal ministry. She effected so many lives as a social worker, ministering to families, the elderly and disabled, homeless children and their mothers, as well as working in therapeutic Foster Care with troubled teens, and her powerful role as an American woman, teaching and raising four children while supporting her husband serving in the pastorate. No small job for anyone.. She was one of a kind and will be dearly missed by more people than any of us know, but will see her again in Heaven. This we know.
Along with her devoted husband of 47 years, Brian Roberge, she is survived by her children, Alicia and Robert Rigney, Joshua Roberge and Kariann Jones, Keith and Cassandra Roberge, and Tiffany Roberge. She will be deeply missed by her grandchildren, Benjamin Roberge, Colin Rigney, and Elliott Roberge, her mother, Roberta Elnicki and two brothers, Steven and Kenneth Mell. There are too many others to name here but there is not one person who SueAnn knew that was unaware of her love for them or that they were truly family in her heart. Love is a powerful thing and she had lots of it.
We will miss her so much while apart, but we celebrate with her, the glory she has entered into already and look forward with great joy, to the family reunion in Heaven. She is running and singing and flying some sort of butterfly flag as she is embraced by the deepest love and presence of God right now. We are so proud, and forever grateful to have had this time on Earth together.
According to her wishes, we will honor her memory in an informal ceremony with family. We will not be releasing the specifics publicly, but we appreciate your love and prayers.
