Steve A. Smith, 63, of Newville, passed away on Monday, January 10, 2022, at UPMC Carlisle.  He was born on August 23, 1958, in Carlisle and is a son of Shirley L. (Yocum) Smith of Carlisle and the late Merle E. Smith, Sr.

Steve graduated from Carlisle High School in 1976.  He was a U. S. Army veteran and served from 1976 to 1979.  Steve retired from the Commonwealth of PA, where he was a security officer for 20 years at the South Mountain Restoration Center.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his loving wife of 33 years Karen L. (Nailor) Smith, two daughters, Aubrie L. (Andrew) Griffie and Darla R. Smith both of Carlisle, one brother Merle E. Smith, Jr. of Beaver Springs, PA, two sisters, Debra Maclay of Carlisle and Tammy Mislyan of Shermans Dale, five grandchildren and several nieces and other relatives.

A viewing will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 18, 2022, in the Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, 630 S. Hanover St., Carlisle.  Burial will be private. Visit www.Since1853.com to send condolences
