Obituary

Shirley A. Wade, 92, of Carlisle, passed away on Saturday, March 9, 2024, at Thornwald Home in Carlisle.  She was born on November 10, 1931, in Lemoyne and was a daughter of the late John Ellsworth Gill and Lillian Maryjane (Kauffman) Gill.

Shirley graduated from Mechanicsburg High School with the Class of 1950.  She retired after more than 25 years of service as a computer programmer at the Fleet Material Support Office (FMSO) in Mechanicsburg.  She was a member of the Fleet Reserve Women's Auxiliary and the VFW Women's Auxiliary.

Shirley is survived by one son Gordon Brinton (& wife Karen), two daughters, Cinda Fox and Laura Blubaugh, one son in-law Robert Grace, ten grandchildren, Rob Grace, Andrew Grace, Kimberly Fox, Jon Fox, Gordon Brinton Jr., Timothy Brinton, Julie Hardy, Emily Tsambiras, Clayton Sweeney, Carson Sweeney, twenty-six great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Also, one sister Carrol Beauchamp and one brother David Gill. She was preceded in death by her first husband Glen Brinton, her second husband Carl Wade, one daughter Cheryl Grace, two sisters, JimmyLou Mader and Yvonne Morrison, one brother John Gill, and a companion Raymond Horner.

A memorial service will be held at Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, 630 S. Hanover St. Carlisle, PA on Sunday, March 24 at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Richard Reese officiating. There will be a visitation from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the charity of the donor's choice. The burial will be private. www.EwingBrothers.com.
