Shirley A. Shevlin, 84, of Carlisle, passed away on Tuesday, February 22, 2022, at her home. She was born on February 25, 1937, in Carlisle and was a daughter of the late Paul N. and Grace I. (Barnhart) Hockenberry.
Shirley graduated from Carlisle High School with the class of 1954. She retired from Carlisle Container Co. after 30 years of service. Shirley was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, Carlisle since 1955.
She is survived by her devoted husband of 66 years Philip J. Shevlin, three sons, Philip J. (wife Carole) Shevlin of Carlisle, Stephen D. (wife Michele) Shevlin of McKinney, TX, and Daniel P. (fiance Kay) Shevlin of Carrolton, TX, one daughter Theresa M. (husband Bob) Maag, one brother Ray E. Hockenberry of East Waterford, 10 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Fred Hockenberry and Dale Hockenberry and four sisters, Evelyn Hockenberry, Betty Eichelberger, Doris Ramsey and Gail Hockenberry.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, February 28, 2022, in the St. Patrick Catholic Church, 85 Marsh Dr., Carlisle with Rev. Martin O. Moran as the officiant. Burial will be in St. Patrick's New Catholic Cemetery, North Middleton Twp. A time of fellowship will be held at the church following the burial. A viewing will be held from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. with a Rosary Service to begin at 3:15 p.m. on Sunday, February 27, 2022, in the Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, 630 S. Hanover St., Carlisle. Memorial contributions may be made St. Patrick Catholic Church, 152 E. Pomfret St., Carlisle, PA 17013 or to Residential Hospice, 100 Sterling Pkwy, #110, Mechanicsburg, PA 17050. www.Since1853.com.
