Obituary

Shirley C. Sheaffer, 93, of Carlisle, died on Monday, August 17, 2026, at Sarah A. Todd Nursing Home. She was born on June 19, 1933, in Huntsdale and was a daughter of the late Henry P. J. Sheller and Mildred M. (Seiders) Sheller. She was the widow of W. Carl Sheaffer who passed away on April 8, 1991.

Shirley was a homemaker and later retired from Forrest Park Health Center after fifteen years of service. She was a member of the Huntsdale Church of the Brethren, the Lady’s Aid, and Silver Sneakers at Gold’s Gym.

She is survived by two sons, Michael D. (Susan) Sheaffer, and Timothy C. (Marcy) Sheaffer, both of Carlisle, three daughters, Judy E. (Hank) Brant of Carlisle, Tamara J. (Patrick) Closs/Perry of Belmont, NC, Heidi B. (Charles) Tew of New Kent, VA, one brother David L. Sheller of Carlisle, one sister Jean E. Richwine of Mechanicsburg, 19 grandchildren, 49 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her late husband, she was preceded in death by one son Kenneth M. Sheaffer, and two sisters, Vivian M. Kugle and Arlene E. Rhoads.

A viewing and visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, followed by the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. in the Huntsdale Church of the Brethren, 170 Church Rd. Carlisle, PA 17015 with Pastor Darlene Stouffer officiating. The burial will be in the church cemetery following the service. Memorial donations may be made to Huntsdale Church of the Brethren or Call To Build, P.O. Box 80, Plainfield, PA 17081.
