Sherran K. Barder, 64, of Carlisle, passed away on Monday, April 4, 2011, at Carlisle Regional Medical Center. She was born on Tuesday, February 18, 1947, in Carlisle, a daughter of Jack L. Woods, Sr. of Carlisle and the late Christine V. (Kiehl) Woods. She was the widow of Joseph P. Barder, who died Feb. 24, 2008.
Sherran was a 1965 graduate of Boiling Springs High School. She was a Certified Nursing Assistant and was also employed at several other local businesses and most recently at The Dollar Tree in Carlisle for several years. Sherran formerly attended the Mt. Holly Springs Church of God and was a former Avon representative and former member of the Eastern Star and the Eagles Ladies Auxiliary, Carlisle. Sherran enjoyed shooting pool, bowling and playing bingo.
In addition to her father, she is survived by daughters; Brandi J. (and husband, Joseph) Yohe of Boiling Springs and Christine C. (and husband, Ed) Rufe of Wildwood, NJ, a step-son, Robert J. Barder of Middletown, a brother, Jack Woods, Jr. of Florida, two sisters; Ginger Hollister and Yvonne Sanchez, both of Carlisle, five grandchildren; Kyle and Jacque Paxton and Astian, Ayla and Rickie Ott, one great-grandson, Cameron Ott and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a step-son, Rodney Barder.
Funeral services to celebrate Sherran's life will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, April 11, 2011, in the Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, 630 S. Hanover St., Carlisle, with Pastor Richard Reese officiating. Entombment will be in Cumberland Valley Memorial Gardens, Carlisle. Viewing will be held on Sunday from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to American Diabetes Association, 3544 N. Progress Ave., Suite 103, Harrisburg, PA 17110.
