Sarah B. Shultz, 97, of Boiling Springs, passed away on Wednesday, December 28, 2011, at Sarah A. Todd Memorial Home, Carlisle. She was born on Monday, May 4, 1914, in Boiling Springs, a daughter of the late Jacob B. and Nellie (Beltzhoover) Meixel and the widow of Lawrence M. Shultz, who died May 24, 1994.

Sarah was a 1932 graduate of Boiling Springs High School and was a devoted wife and mother. She was a lifelong member of St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, Boiling Springs, where she formerly taught the Nursery Sunday School Class for 25 years. She was also a member of the Lutheran Women, a 60 plus year member of Cumberland County Farm Women Group 4 and a former member of the Golden Age Club of South Middleton Twp. Sarah's family was always dedicated to St. John Church and her mother and father purchased the original organ and Sarah and her three sisters then purchased the chimes.

She is survived by one son, Jerald E. (and his wife, Cathy) Shultz of Avondale, one daughter, Darlene E. (and her husband, James) Anderson of Boiling Springs, six grandchildren; Sherry, Brian, Brad, Steven, Jeannette and Sandra, 11 great-grandchildren, two step great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one son, Jay Wayne Shultz, one daughter-in-law, Virginia and three sisters; Rhea, Emily and Nellie.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, January 2, 2012, in the St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, 111 Walnut St., Boiling Springs, with Rev. Carolyn DeStephano officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Zion Cemetery, Monroe Twp. Viewing will be held on Monday from 10 a.m. until time of service at the church. Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, Carlisle, is in charge of arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to the organ fund at her church or to the Sarah A. Todd Memorial Home in Carlisle.
