Sarah E. Horn, 77, of Carlisle, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, November 24, 2025, at her home. She was born on February 13, 1948, to the late Donald E. Owens Sr. and Isabel (Green) Owens and was married to the late William McQueen Horn, who died on September 23, 2014.
Sarah graduated from Carlisle High School with the class of 1966. She graduated from Cedar Crest College in Allentown, PA with a bachelor's degree in social work. Sarah was a social worker for Cumberland County Children and Youth and the PA Dept. of Human Services Childline. She was a member of West Street A.M.E. Zion Church, Carlisle. Sarah enjoyed her family's sporting events, and she especially loved watching March Madness.
She is survived by her two daughters, Nicole Horn of Carlisle, and Aleya (her husband Akil) Horn Kennedy of Ft. Washington, MD, and two grandchildren, Akil Jr. and Amali Kennedy, three sisters, Emma Carrothers, Roxann Creamer and Cheryl Knight, two brothers, William Owens and Donald "Hook" Owen, Jr. and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Carl Owens and Albert Owens and two sisters, Donna Daughtery and Harriet Hodge.
A funeral service for Sarah will be held on Thursday, December 4, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. in the Carlisle Alliance Church at 237 E. North St. Carlisle, a viewing will take place from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service. A repass will happen directly after the service. Her burial will take place on Friday December 5, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery in Annville. Those wishing to be at the burial will need to meet at the Administration Building at the cemetery no later than 10:15 a.m. on Friday. www.EwingBrothers.com
