Samuel L. Leib, 99, formerly of Mechanicsburg, died on Monday, November 24, 2014, at Church of God Home, Carlisle. He was born on March 14, 1915, in South Middleton Twp., a son of the late John E. and Ruth A. (Woods) Leib, and was married to the late Kathryn D. (Dineley) Leib, who died Feb. 24, 1961.

Sam was a 1933 graduate of Boiling Springs High School and was a retired farmer. He also had worked 20 years with Carlisle Farm Bureau and 16 years with Agway Inc. Sam was a member of the Churchtown Church of God and served as treasurer of the Sunday school for 32 years. He was a 75 year member of the Knights of Pythias Lodge 299 and served as treasurer of the lodge for 43 years in Allen. Sam enjoyed square-dancing.

He is survived by three sisters; Romaine Sheaffer of Dillsburg, Mabel Strock of Mechanicsburg and Emily Nearhood of Hershey and several nieces and nephews. Sam was predeceased by four brothers and two sisters.

A viewing will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 4, 2014, followed by the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. in the Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, 630 S. Hanover Str., Carlisle, with Pastor Brian Warner officiating. Burial will follow at Westminster Memorial Gardens, Carlisle.
