Obituary
Samuel Edward Gitt, 17, of Carlisle, died suddenly on Friday, July 22, 2011, at Reading Hospital and Medical Center in Reading. He was born on Wednesday, September 22, 1993, in Harrisburg, a son of Kelly A. (Kauffman) Gitt of Carlisle and Ted A. (and his wife, Tammy) Gitt of Shippensburg.
Sam was going to be a senior at Boiling Springs High School this coming school year, and participated in varsity football and track and field for the "Bubblers". He was a music enthusiast, enjoyed playing guitar and was looking forward to pursuing a career as a music teacher. Sam also enjoyed history, movies, world cultures, the Baltimore Ravens, comedy and being involved with small children and the Children's Miracle Network. He also assisted with the Youth Flag Football program at Boiling Springs. He formerly attended St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Boiling Springs and was a member of the Amnesty Club at school. Everybody knew Sam as a caring, loving person with a big heart.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by one sister, Delaney E. Gitt, at home, his paternal grandmother, Gloria (Fanus) Gitt of Boiling Springs and several aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends.
A visitation will be held from 5 - 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 28, 2011, at the Carlisle Evangelical Free Church, 290 Petersburg Rd., Carlisle. Memorial services will be held on Friday, at 10:00 a.m. at the Carlisle Evangelical Free Church, with Pastor Shad Baker officiating. Burial will be private. Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, Carlisle, is in charge of the arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to the Children's Miracle Network, PO Box 855, Hershey, PA 17033.

Ted, Tammy & Delany,We were so extremely saddened when we heard what had happened. We loved any time we got to spend with Sam. He would seek Jere out in a crowd (of course they were the 2 tallest there!) We always get a kick out of the stories Dylan would tell us. & still do. Sam will be missed more than anyone can ever say. He was so sweet, polite, funny and what a handsome guy! Please know you're in our hearts, thoughts and prayers.

Sam was a sweet, considerate young man who always put a smile on your face. He always made sure to come talk to me when he saw me.
