Ruth M. Smiley, 88, formerly of Shermans Dale, passed away on Saturday, March 20, 2021 at the Kinkora Pythian Home in Duncannon.  She was born on August 27, 1932 in Perulack, Juniata County and was a daughter of the late Dallas F. and Zella J. (Plank) Kirk.

Ruth graduated from Green Park Union High School (West Perry High School) in 1950.  She was a loving homemaker and a devoted wife and mother.  Ruth formerly worked for several local companies but eventually served as an escort driver for husband's mobile home transport service for many years.  Ruth enjoyed canning and taking care of her family.

She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Donald A. Smiley, Jr., one daughter Wanda (husband John) Shenk of Shermans Dale, two brothers, Charles (wife Janet) Kirk of Dillsburg and Walter (wife Jean) Kirk of Shermans Dale, one granddaughter Dawn Shenk, one step-granddaughter Seleena Puffinburger, two great-grandchildren, Madison Shenk and Collin Strunk, one step-great-granddaughter Chloe Puffinburger and many nieces and nephews.  Ruth was preceded in death by one sister Grace Simonton and four brothers, Willard, John, James and Karl Kirk.

A viewing will begin at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, March 26, 2021 followed by funeral services at 1:30 p.m. in the Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, 630 S.
