Ruth L. Shenk, 91, of Carlisle died on Wednesday, November 8, 2023, at Chapel Pointe in, Carlisle.  Born July 12, 1932, in Boiling Springs, to the late Charles and Gertrude Peters McLaughlin.  She was the widow of the late Paul J. Shenk, who passed away July 16,1999.

She was a graduate of Boiling Springs High School, Class of 1951.  Ruth retired from the United Telephone Co. where she began as an operator and eventually worked in various locations as an administrator.  She was a member of the Carlisle Grace United Methodist Church.  She was a member of Cumberland Carlisle AARP #4377 and National AARP, Independent Telephone Pioneers.  She was an active volunteer at the Carlisle Hospital since 1987 until 2019, of which she was most proud.  She volunteered at Project Share in Carlisle.  She enjoyed eating out, going to the casino, and going to Ocean City, NJ.

She is survived by her daughter, Karen L. Shenk (Virginia Hess) of Harrisburg, one sister, Marie Cvetko (Joe) of Bellflower, CA and several nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her son, Steven P. Shenk who passed away May 6, 2018, five brothers and six sisters.

A viewing will begin at 12:30 p.m. on Monday, November 13, 2023, followed by funeral services at 1:30 p.m. in the Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, 630 S. Hanover St., Carlisle, PA with Chaplain Linda Slusser officiating.  Burial will be in Westminster Cemetery, Carlisle. Memorial contributions may be made to Chapel Pointe, 770 S. Hanover St, Carlisle, PA.
