Ruth E. Rhoads, 87, of Carlisle, passed away on Thursday, April 13, 2023, at her home.  She was born on July 24, 1935, in Darby, PA and was a daughter of the late Edward Gormley and Barbara (Taylor) Gormley and was the widow of Robert E. Rhoads, II, who passed away on Sunday, August 5, 2007.

Ruth graduated from Mechanicsburg High School in 1954.  She retired from Highmark.  Ruth previously worked for the PA State Police and the F.B.I. as a fingerprint specialist.  She was a longtime member of St. Matthew Evangelical Lutheran Church in Plainfield.  Ruth formerly volunteered at Carlisle Hospital.

She is survived by two daughters, Dianna Weaver and her husband Jeff of Mechanicsburg and Yvonne Booher of Carlisle, one sister Martha Clem of Shermans Dale, four grandchildren, Trisha Weaver of Mechanicsburg, Megan (husband Sam) Counts of Manheim, Ashlyn Booher of Camp Hill and Zachary Booher of Carlisle and many nieces and nephews.

A viewing will begin at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 20, 2023, followed by a funeral service at 1:00 p.m. in the Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, 630 S. Hanover St., Carlisle with Pastor Robert Berry officiating.  Burial will be in Rolling Green Memorial Park, Camp Hill.  Memorial contributions may be made to Cumberland Valley Animal Shelter, 5051 Letterkenny Rd W, Chambersburg, PA 17201 or to her church at 2070 Newville Rd, Plainfield, PA 17081.
