Ruth Jean McGarvey, 83, formerly of Clearfield, died Thursday, March 11, 2010, at Chapel Pointe at Carlisle. Born March 18, 1926, in Spangler, she was the daughter of the late Samuel S. and Lois E. McGarvey.

She graduated from Harmony High School and attended Nyack College in Nyack, NY. She retired from Schrieber Foods (Clearfield Cheese) in Curwensville with over 32 years of service. She was a member of the Christian and Missionary Alliance Church in Clearfield. Since 1996, she has lived in Carlisle at Chapel Pointe.

She was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister. She is survived by two nieces; Mrs. Verna Brust of Mesa, CO and Ms. Ruth E. McGarvey of New Castle and two nephews; Rev. D. Paul McGarvey of Lewisville, TX and Rev. Carl S. McGarvey of Lancaster and many loving great nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 14, 2010, in the Henry Chapel at Chapel Pointe, Carlisle, with Rev. Walt Frankenberry officiating. Burial will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday in the Fairview Cemetery in La Jose, PA. Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, Carlisle, is in charge of arrangements.
