Ronald G. Sweeney, 78, of Carlisle, passed away comfortably on Monday, February 3, 2025, at his home.  He was born on August 25, 1946, in Carlisle and was the son of the late Jacob William Sweeney and Katherine (Smith) Sweeney.

Ron retired from Cumberland County after 24 years of service in the maintenance department.  Ron loved hunting, fishing and loved talking about his trophy buck "Twinkle Toes".  He loved all his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  He also was the best role model and father figure to granddaughter Brittany and great-grandsons, Maison, Ryan and Weston Conrad.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 57 years Arlene C. (Daugherty) Sweeney, three daughters, Cathy Hockensmith, Judy Killinger and Charlene Gilbert, all of Carlisle, grandchildren, Brittany Sweeney of Dillsburg, Faleshia Ronan of Carlisle, Derrick Ronan of Carlisle, Jesse Killinger, Jr. of Carlisle, Brenda Hockensmith of Newville, Danny Hockensmith of Newville, Cadyn Gilbert of Carlisle, Chandra Gilbert of Shermansdale, Cebrina Gilbert of Shermansdale and Cira Gilbert of Carlisle, his great-grandchildren, Maison, Ryan, Weston, Brextin, Emmitt, Kambree, Bryceon, Nevaeh, Kassidy, Cain, Eli, Lidya, CJ, Ronnie, Mia and Brian.  Also surviving are brothers, Patrick of Carlisle, Earl of Ohio and Roger of Hanover and sisters, Stella of Newville and June of Florida.  Ron was preceded in death by three daughters, Brenda Sweeney, Lynda Sweeney and Debra Ronan.

A viewing will begin at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, February 7, 2025, followed by a memorial service at 4:00 p.m. in the Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, 630 S. Hanover St., Carlisle with Rev. Mark Sweeney officiating.  Burial will be private.  www.EwingBrothers.com.
