Ronald Lee Brehm, 92, of Carlisle, was called home to be with his Lord on Thursday, April 2, 2026. Ron was preceded in death by his parents, Melvin F. and Rebecca Rutz Brehm, one brother, Kenneth R. (age 10), and his beloved wife of over 50 years, Delores Jane (Magee) Brehm. He is survived by four sons and daughters-in-law, Steffen and Brenda (Kleiser) Brehm of Carlisle, Kenneth and Connie (Warren) Brehm of Shippensburg, Jeffrey and Debra (Noss) Brehm of Newville, and COL (Ret) Les and Therese (Schiffer) Brehm of Carlisle. He is survived by nine granddaughters, one grandson, and 15 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Suann Wickard and her husband Frank, as well as two sisters-in-law and their spouses, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Ron grew up on the Pine Road in the small community of Barnitz where his father worked for the Barnitz family at the Mill. Ron became somewhat of a local historian because of his knowledge of the Barnitz Mill and its operations. Ron was a lifelong, devoted member of Barnitz Church, Carlisle. Over the years he served as Sunday School Superintendent, a member of Trustees, Treasurer, handyman and greeter extraordinaire.
Ron attended the one-room Pines School, which is now the social hall at Barnitz Church, through the 8th grade. He graduated from Carlisle High School in 1951. In his Youth, Ron delivered newspapers along the Pine Road and worked at the A&P on Hanover Street in Carlisle. After graduation he worked at Castle’s Lumber Company, the Federal Equipment Company, Frog Switch & Manufacturing Company, and the
Pennsylvania Army National Guard. Ron retired in February 1994 at the rank of Master Sergeant and as the Organizational Maintenance Shop Supervisor, Carlisle Armory, after 17 years of part-time and 25 years of full-time service. Ron was a member of the Gobin Guards and the Cumberland County Honor Guard.
Ron was a “people person” and he leaves behind many people who knew and loved him for his friendship and service.
A funeral service will begin at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 11, 2026, in the Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, Carlisle, with Rev. Matthew Plant officiating. The burial with military honors by Cumberland County Honor Guard will be in Waggonner’s Church Cemetery, Carlisle.
