Rodney E. Group Jr., a proud veteran, a dedicated retiree of the Carlisle School District, and a man of deep devotion to his family, pets, and passions, passed away at his home on October 24, 2026, at the age of 63. Born on April 27, 1963, Rodney lived a life marked by loyalty, warmth, and the simple joys of good company and a great game.
A proud veteran, Rodney carried a strong sense of duty and honor throughout his life, values that also shaped his dedicated career working for and retiring from the Carlisle School District. Away from his work and service, he was known for his vibrant team spirit. Whether cheering on the Michigan Wolverines or rooting for the Giants, Rodney was an avid football fan who never missed a chance to watch a game. He also shared a special bond with his beloved cat, Theta, who brought him great comfort and joy. Above all his hobbies and interests, however, his greatest happiness came from simply spending time with the people he loved.
Rodney was preceded in death by his father, Rodney E. Group Sr.; his mother, Anna L. (Thumma) Group; and his brother, Edward A. Group.
He leaves behind a family who will forever cherish his memory and carry forward his spirit. He is survived by his devoted brother, Todd R. Thumma, and sister-in-law, Sarah M. Thumma. He was a beloved uncle to his nephew, Joshua R. Thumma, and his niece, Heather M. Grimes, along with her husband, James Grimes. He also held a special place in the hearts of his great-nephew, Caleb Grimes, his son Sean, and daughter Charlotte, as well as his great-nieces, Cierra Grimes and BellaMay Grimes.
Rodney’s steadfast presence, loyalty, and love for his family will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him.
Celebration of Rodney’s Life and Burial will be at the convenience of the Family. www.EwingBrothers.com.
