Rodney attended Carlisle High School and later on received his G.E.D. He had been employed for the last nine years with Carlisle Regional Medical Center as head of security. Rodney worked from 1973 to 1983 as a maintenance supervisor for the former Embers Hotel and Convention Center, Carlisle and as manager for the Robert Noll's Rent-a-Space, Carlisle from 1986 to 2004. He formerly attended St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, Carlisle and was a former member of several other area organizations. Rodney was a life member of Carlisle Fire & Rescue and a social member of Carlisle American Legion Post 101 and the Carlisle V.F.W. Post 477.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 49 years, Nancy E. (Longenecker) Greene, one daughter, Rhonda L. Greene of Carlisle, two grandchildren; Steven Harper and Renee Harper Baker, both of Carlisle, three great-grandchildren; Kadin Greene and Kayla and Kloey Hippensteel and several nieces and nephews. Rodney was predeceased by brothers; Charles M., Raymond E. and Wayne D. Greene.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 25, 2013, at 10:30 a.m. in the Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, 630 S. Hanover St., Carlisle, with Chaplain Jonathan Terry officiating. Burial will follow in Ashland Cemetery, Carlisle. A viewing will be held on Sunday from 2 - 4:00 p.m. at the funeral home and on Monday from 9:30 a.m. until time of the service also at the funeral home.
