Robert W. Rummel, Sr. 86, of Newville, passed away on Friday, October 13, 2023, at home with his daughter by his side.  He was born on September 22, 1937, in York Springs and was the son of Virginia and Vincent Bream and was married to the late Constance J. "Connie" (Nickel) Rummel who passed away on August 2, 2015.

He graduated from Carlisle High School and served in the US Army.  Robert lived many years first in Cape Coral and then in St. Petersburg, Florida where he was a specialty woodworker in yacht construction.  After returning to the Carlisle area, Robert worked many years with Fry Communications in Mechanicsburg and retired and then after working part-time at Big Spring School District he retired again.  He was a member of Carlisle United Methodist Church.  Robert was a member of "The Snook Club" in Cape Coral, FL and he enjoyed coaching his son while he was in the different sports youth leagues, and he also enjoyed working outside in the yard and gardening.  While owning a camper, he and his wife Connie enjoyed camping with his daughter and her family over the weekends.

He is survived by one daughter Gina Snyder of Newville and with whom he lived, two granddaughters, Kayla Snyder of Joppa, MD and Megan (husband, Nick) Wardle of Newville, and two great-granddaughters Blakelynn and Harper.  One sister Edith Goodhart of Mt. Holly Springs, one daughter-in-law Lisa Rummel of St. Petersburg, FL, one brother-in-law Eugene Nickel and Nieces and Nephews.  Robert was predeceased by one son-in-law Mark R. Snyder, who died Jan. 30, 2015, and one son Robert Rummel, Jr. who died August 2023.

A visitation will begin at 10:30 am on Friday, October 20, 2023 followed by a memorial service at 11:00am in the Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, 630 S. Hanover Str., Carlisle, with Rev.
