Robert Sennett "Snooks" Miller

Robert Sennett Miller, age 97 of Carlisle, went to live with the Lord on September 7, 2023. Born in Harrisburg, he was the son of the late Hugh and Vernal (Goshorn) Miller.

He is survived by a daughter, Terry Middlekauff of Carlisle and son, Ted Miller (Cindy) of Carlisle; a granddaughter, Tami Reynolds of Shermans Dale and grandson, Troy Middlekauff of Marysville; 6 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great grandchildren. He is predeceased by his wife of 72 years, Marion (Snow) Miller, a son, Todd Miller, Mechanicsburg and a sister, Eleanor Greene, North Carolina.

Bob attended New Cumberland High School, where he played varsity football.

In his senior year, he left school and enlisted in the Navy. He trained as a Naval Corpsman and served in WWII stationed at a U.S. Field Hospital in the Philippines.

After returning home from his military service, he returned to New Cumberland High School to finish his education, graduating with the senior class of 1947.

While a resident of Chapel Pointe Retirement Community of Carlisle, he was a member of the Chapel Pointe Alliance Church. Before moving to Chapel Pointe, he was an active member of the Shiremanstown United Methodist church for over 50 years where he taught Sunday School classes, served on numerous church committees and was a coordinator for Faith at Work spiritual weekend conferences and seminars.

Bob was an avid hunter, especially turkey hunting. For many years he even made his own "turkey calls". After 39 years of civil service, he retired from the Navy Ships Parts Control Center of Mechanicsburg, PA.

A memorial service will be held Friday, September 22, at Chapel Pointe Retirement Community, 770 S. Hanover Street, Carlisle, PA with Rev. Steve Motter officiating. Service will be at 1:30 with visitation at 1:00.

Private burial will be held at Rolling Green Cemetery. Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, Carlisle, is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Benevolent Fund at Chapel Pointe and also Homeland at Home Hospice, Harrisburg. The Miller family would like to thank the Nursing Staff at Chapel Pointe and also Homeland Hospice for all the loving care and attention that Bob received while living at Chapel Pointe.  www.EwingBrothers.com.
