IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Robert S.
Keyes Jr.
February 27, 1965 – July 1, 2024
Robert (Rob) Stanley Keyes Jr., 59, of Newburg, PA departed this world peacefully on July 1st, 2024 with his loving family by his side.
Rob was born in Worcester, Massachusetts on February 27th, 1965 to Audrey (Belle) Keyes and Robert Stanley Keyes Sr. Both of which have preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by an older brother James Keyes.
Rob grew up in Brookfield, MA during his early childhood until his family moved to Maryland. He was a 1983 graduate of Westminster Senior High School and received further education at Catonsville Community College. He met his beloved wife, Michelle in Westminster, MD while in their early twenties. They married in 1989 and had two sons, Robert, 29 (Miranda) and Jacob, 23. Rob and Michelle raised their boys in Shippensburg, PA before settling in Newburg, PA.
Rob worked as a sales engineer for 25 plus years, proudly selling sandblasters, paint booths and finishing equipment to military bases, as well as many large and small cooperations. He willingly worked to provide for his family – traveling well over a million miles during his time employed, as he always preferred to take the scenic route.
Rob was an avid outdoorsman, taking his sons and friends on numerous hunting trips, especially on adventures to his cabin in Maine. He enjoyed a good Rocky Balboa movie and listening to easy rock music during his downtime. He knew how to set off a magnificent firework display and never failed to help a stranger change a tire on the side of the road. He could make a room laugh with a simple joke and always wrapped up heartfelt gifts in local newspapers. If he wasn't found spending time with his family, you could find him watching the Patriots and Red Sox from the comfort of his rocking recliner.
Rob's most beloved title held during his life was "Pop". He would spend countless hours with his grandchildren Cooper, 5 and Cambree, 3. From filling toy chests, to rolling down hills in the back yard, he completely encompassed the role of an outstanding grandfather. There were never too little snacks given out and always time for one more ride in the Suzuki. His grandchildren have countless stories proving that he was "the best Pop" to have ever lived.
Rob is survived by his wife of 35 years, Michelle, his sons Robbie (Miranda) and Jake, sisters Janet (Kevin) Clawson and Kelley (Bill) Bjorkland, grandchildren Cooper and Cambree, many nieces, and nephews, along with numerous great nieces and great nephews, multiple cousins including a brother-like bond with Lenoard Keyes Jr., and an abundance of life-long friends. His legacy will forever live on in the hearts of those whom he fiercely loved.
A celebration of life will be held to honor his life privately at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, Memorial contributions can be made to Mercy House of Chambersburg, 730 Norland Ave., Chambersburg, PA 17201. www.EwingBrothers.com
