Obituary

Robert "Bob" S. George, 84 of Carlisle, PA, passed away peacefully on January 18, 2024.  Born in Carlisle on September 24, 1939, he was the son of the late Charles F. and  Alice M. Finkey George.  He was proceeded in death by his wife, Beverly A. Fry George, in 2010 after 45 years of marriage.

Bob was a 1957 graduate of Big Spring High School and a graduate of Keystone College.  He honorably served in the United States Air Force and held positions at Carlisle Tire and Rubber and PA Commonwealth Office of Human Services in various capacities of IT project management. He was a very proud member of the Penn State Nittany Lion Club.

He enjoyed spending time with his family supporting Penn State athletics, relaxing with summer vacations in Avalon, NJ, or any opportunity that brought them together. He was an avid supporter of his grandchildren's sports, careers, and interests. He loved welcoming friends and family to Penn State tailgates or to his basement on Saturday evenings to enjoy a beverage and listen to The Four Freshman. He never failed to entertain others by telling funny, or not so, jokes and stories.

Bob is survived by his daughters; Stephanie G. Douglas and her husband, George, and Angela A. Lane and her husband, Matthew, four grandchildren; George F. Douglas, IV, Justine M. Douglas, Amya M. Lane, and Addison A. Lane, and a great-grandpup, Luna, all of Carlisle. Also, three sisters, Romaine "Sis" K. Alspaugh and her husband, Robert, of Carlisle, Joyce E. Zinn of Newville, and Anna Marie Hess of Concord, NC, his sister-in-law,  Andrea  L. Snoke and her husband, Roy, and brother-in-law, Donald A. Fry and his wife, Cynthia, all of Shippensburg, many loving nieces and nephews, and supportive neighbors.

Memorial services will be held on Saturday, January 27th, 3 pm at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Carlisle with a visitation held two hours prior to the service. A reception will be hosted by the family following the service. Burial will be at Spring Hill Cemetery, Shippensburg, at a later date.
