Obituary

Robert E. Fenton, 78, of Carlisle, passed away on Sunday, May 1, 2022, at the LewisGale Hospital Montgomery in Blacksburg, VA.  He was born on May 17, 1943, in Carlisle and was a son of the late Frank Wallace Fenton and Kathryn E. (Clippinger) Fenton.  He was married to the late Kay E. Fenton, who passed away in 2019.

Bob graduated from Big Spring High School in Newville.  He retired from Quaker after 32 years of service.  He was a member of the Williams Grove Steam Engine Association for 42 years and served on the Board of Directors for several years.  He enjoyed helping everyone around with odd jobs, such as collecting scrap, cutting down trees, clearing junk etc. He was a big fan of the former Carlisle Farmers Market Restaurant and enjoyed going in and talking with his friends for hours.  There was never an auction or sale that didn't have something he "needed".  Bob loved spending time camping at various places with his family and friends.

He is survived by one son Douglas E. Fenton, three daughters, Rebecca L. Fenton, Lori L. (husband Justin) Carpenter and Amy M. Fenton, two brothers, Carl (wife Janet) Fenton of Alexandria, VA and Bill (wife Carol) Fenton of Cosby, TN, grandchildren, Aaron C. Guringo, Sarah A. (Michael) Cassel, Kirsten L. (Chris) Fernandez, Brooke R. (Jordan) Ely, Justina (Kyle) Guyer, and Lindsey M. Hurley, great-grandchildren, Naomi, Zane, Eli, Everett, and Kade and several nieces, nephews and cousins.  He was preceded in death by one son Michael W. Fenton, one daughter Lucinda K. Fenton, two brothers, Donald and Tom Fenton and one daughter-in-law Karen (Keiter) Fenton.

A visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 11, 2022, followed by a memorial service at 12:00 p.m. in the Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, 630 S. Hanover St., Carlisle.  Burial will be private.  A time of fellowship will follow the service at the Trinity United Methodist Church in New Kingstown.  Memorial contributions may be made to the WGHSEA, PO Box 509, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055.  www.Since1853.com.
