Obituary

Robert E Evans Jr, 64, from Eagle River AK went home to be with the Lord on Sunday 5/19/2024 after a courageous battle with cancer.  He died peacefully in Providence Alaska Medical Center in Anchorage AK.   Per his request, a viewing was held in Anchorage & burial will be in Carlisle PA.

Bob was born in Summit NJ to Robert E Evans Sr & Betty Johnson Evans on 4/13/1960.  He graduated from Kean College with a bachelor's degree in marketing & economics.  Bob accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as his Savior while in his early 20s.  He met the love of his life, Barbara Anderson, in 1994 & they were married in 1996 in Carlisle.  Becoming tired of the NJ rat race, they packed the truck & moved to AK in 2001, settling in Eagle River & then Chugiak.  Bob had a wide range of interests as evidenced by his employment history.  He worked almost 3 decades in the gun industry, was then recruited by Chenega Corporation, & finished his working years as office manager for 2 physician practices.

He was diagnosed with cancer for the second time in 2022 & bravely fought it, not wanting to leave Barb alone.  The Lord graciously received him on 5/19/2024.  Bob especially enjoyed aviation, motorcycles, watches, & guns.  Per Barb, "He is the love of my life.  He taught me what marriage & true love are.  He was so gentle, respectful, giving, & forgiving, a man of integrity like no one I've ever known.  He was the best part of my world."

A funeral service will be held at Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, 630 S Hanover St, Carlisle on Wed 5/29 with a visitation at 1:00 pm followed by the funeral at 2:00 pm.  The burial will be at Cumberland Valley Memorial Gardens.

Bob is survived by Barb, his wife of 28 years, his mother Betty Evans of Warminster PA, sisters-in-law Beverly Opilo & husband John of Seven Valleys PA, Brenda Anderson of Newville PA, brother-in-law Rodney Anderson & wife Sheila of Millerstown PA, 8 nieces & nephews with spouses, 8 great nieces, & 1 great nephew.  Barb asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to hospice.
