Robert C. Burd, 84, of Carlisle, died on Saturday, July 26, 2014, at Claremont Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Carlisle. He was born on April 7, 1930, in Carlisle, a son of the late Chester C. and Sarah (Brenneman) Burd and was the widow of Hazel I. (Rose) Burd, who died in 1984.

Robert worked and retired from the former Kinney Shoe Co., Carlisle after many years of service. He was a life member of Eagles Aerie 1299 and the White Circle Club, both of Carlisle. He enjoyed watching sports and formerly drove race car at the former Silver Springs Speedway.

He is survived by two sons; Robert Rose of Carlisle and Edward Burd of Adams County, two sisters; Shirley Crull and Linda Vincent, both of Carlisle, two brothers; Claude Burd of Carlisle and Donald Burd of Newville, several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Robert was predeceased by one daughter, Jerrie Holstien and one sister, Dorothy Lloyd.

Services and burial will be private. Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, Carlisle, is in charge of arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to the Claremont Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, 1000 Claremont Rd., Carlisle, PA 17013.
