Richard John Zarnowski, 73, of Carlisle, died of rapidly progressive dementia Tuesday, August 15, 2017 at his home. Dick was born October 17, 1943, in Kearny, NJ, to the late Frank Joseph Zarnowski and Carolyn Helen (Krzyzewski) Zarnowski.

He graduated from Rutherford High School in Rutherford, NJ, in 1961. Until his illness, Dick was a self-employed brick and stonemason who worked on many buildings throughout Cumberland County and volunteered his time restoring the Big Spring Watershed Association's historic Barrel Factory. He designed and built his house in Lower Frankford Township, where he enjoyed gardening and carving wooden bowls. Dick attended Faith Chapel of Carlisle. He volunteered for Big Spring Area Recycling for 17 years.

Dick is survived by his wife of 38 years, Kathleen Callaghan Zarnowski, two daughters; Tatiana Magee (Matthew) of Chestertown, NY and Genevieve Zarnowski of Mechanicsburg, one brother, Francis Zarnowski of Duncansville, one sister, Linda Blanchette, of Reading and one niece, Trina Blanchette of Redding, CA, as well as numerous in-laws who loved him.

A visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, August 21, 2017 followed by a time of Remembrance at 2:00 p.m. in the Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, 630 S. Hanover St., Carlisle. Burial will be private.
