Richard D. Stuart passed away peacefully on February 3, 2016 in Carlisle, where he was born on October 11, 1923 to Maude and W. Searight Stuart, both of Carlisle. He was happily married to Mary Wood Bosler Stuart.
Dick, as he was known to his friends and family, served during WWII and was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He went on to work for American Express between the years of 1949 and 1977 in the capacity of VP overseeing and managing the opening of new offices throughout the world, living a life most of us could only dream of. An adventurer and renaissance man at heart, Dick lived his life to the fullest while residing in Japan, Egypt and Amsterdam. His hobbies included deep-sea fishing and hunting big game while on safaris in Africa. Dick and Mary Wood retired to the town of Boiling Springs, very close to Carlisle where they were both born and had deep family history. During retirement, Dick enjoyed painting, trout fishing, and spending time with his beloved dogs, Jake and Trey.
Dick is survived by his nephew, Walter S. Stuart, and his 3 nieces, Julia Stuart, Drue Stuart, and Kathleen Stuart. He is deeply missed.
Private burial will be in Westminster Cemetery, Carlisle. Ewing Brothers Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
