The burial with full military honors for Captain (Ret) Richard L. Raudabaugh, USNR will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, February 28, 2025, at Arlington National Cemetery. Attendees should meet at the Administration Building at Arlington no later than 10:30 a.m. There will be a reception following the burial. Captain Raudabaugh died October 17, 2024.
Captain (O6, Ret) Richard L. Raudabaugh, USNR, 86, of Mechanicsburg, died on Thursday, October 17, 2024, at The Bridges at Bent Creek, Mechanicsburg. He was born on January 17, 1938, in Carlisle and was the son of the late Percy R. Raudabaugh and Anna Mae (Miller) Raudabaugh. He is also predeceased by his beloved son, Ricky Raudabaugh and grandson, Jeffrey Suter.
He was a 1955 graduate of Carlisle High School, earned his bachelor's degree in 1960 in business from Lycoming College in Williamsport and in 1964 earned his master's degree from The American University in Washington D.C. Richard served in the United States Navy from 1960 thru 1963, and retired in 1995 from the United States Navy Reserve as Captain with 37 years of total service. In addition, Richard held the rank of Commodore (O8, Ret) in the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary. As a young man, he was Vice President of the Pennsylvania Jaycees.
Richard owned and operated The Fabric Center on Pomfret Street in Carlisle from 1963 to 2022. He also owned and operated Gerber Drapery Land, Camp Hill, for 25 years. He was a member of the Camp Hill Episcopal Church. Richard was a member of the Zembo Highlander Bagpiper Assoc., Carlisle Masonic Lodge 260, Valley of Harrisburg Consistory, Zembo Shrine, and Kappa Delta Rho.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years Juanita (Greene) Ballough Raudabaugh of Mechanicsburg, two sons, Troy A. (Deneen) Raudabaugh of Boiling Springs and Brian K. (Debra) Raudabaugh of Carlisle, one daughter Joni M. (Scott) Davis of Carlisle, three stepsons, Gerald P. H. (Daryl) Ballough of Drexel Hill, William L. (Madeline) Harding of Ruskin, FL, and Glenn M. (Betty) Ballough of Lake Mary, FL, two stepdaughters, Linda C. (Richard) Suter of Mechanicsburg, PA, and Gina H. (Benjamin) Post of Boulder, CO, 11 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.
A viewing will begin at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 26, 2024, followed by a funeral service at 1:00 p.m. in the Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, 630 S. Hanover St., Carlisle with Rev. Canon Robert Alan Schiesler as the officiant. The Cumberland County Honor Guard will perform honors for Richard at the funeral home. The burial is being planned for Arlington National Cemetery.
