Obituary

Richard G. Morrison, Sr., 65, of Chambersburg and formerly of Carlisle, passed away with his loving family by his side on Sunday, April 1, 2012, at his home. He was born on Thursday, September 26, 1946, in Carlisle, a son of the late Clarence L. and Catherine V. (Raudabaugh) Morrison.

Richard was a 1964 graduate of Carlisle High School, attended the Art Institute of Baltimore and served in the US Army during the Vietnam War. Richard was formerly employed by Dauphin Electric and then worked for the former McCoy Electronics in Mt. Holly Springs, where he designed crystals from 1975 to 1997. He also worked for the former Reeves-Hoffman Co. in Carlisle from 1997 to 2002. In 2003, Richard graduated from the Kaplan Career Institute in Chambersburg, where he earned a degree in Office System Technology. He retired in 2003 due to his health and began a long and courageous battle with cancer. Richard enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, gardening and landscaping. He was an accomplished pool player and enjoyed competing in tournaments. He formerly attended Grace United Methodist Church in Carlisle.

He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 14 years, Glenda G. (Johnston) Morrison; one son, Richard G. Morrison, Jr. (and his wife, Susann) of Mechanicsburg; two step-sons, Kevin M. Glee (and his wife, Crys) of McConnellsburg and Kenneth M. Glee of Long Beach, CA; one sister, Bonnie Hare of Carlisle; six grandchildren and three nieces.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 6, 2012, at 11 a.m. in the Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, 630 S. Hanover St., Carlisle, with Pastor Michael Baumgardner, Sr. officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Zion Cemetery, Monroe Twp. A viewing will be held on Thursday from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home and on Friday from 10:30 a.m. until time of services. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society - Capital Area Unit 2, Lemoyne Dr., Ste. 101, Lemoyne, PA 17043.
