Obituary

Richard L. Deihl, 90, of Newville, passed away on Saturday, September 28, 2024, at Claremont Nursing Home.  He was born on April 17, 1934, in Lower Mifflin Twp., Cumberland County and was a son of the late Lynn I. Deihl and Martha E. (Chestnut) Deihl.

Richard retired from Fry Communications in Mechanicsburg and worked at the former Hunt & Erie Crystal Frequency plant, Carlisle.  He was a member of the Newville Cowboy Church.  Richard enjoyed the outdoors.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 69 years Frances A. (Deihl) Deihl, one son Ray L. (Patty Riggs) Deihl of Newville, two daughters, Wendy K. (Bryan) Boyd of Newville and Ann F. (Bill) Fluss of Newburg, two brothers, Paul (Sharon) Deihl of Newville and John (Hazel) Deihl of Shippensburg, three sisters, Viola Johnson of Scotland, Evelyn (Gerald) Varner of Newville and Emily (Walter) Eutzy of Shippensburg, 6 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, brother-in-law Marlin Negley of Newville and many nieces and nephews.  Richard was preceded in death by one sister Cecil Negley and one brother and his wife, Lee and Donna Deihl.

A visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 3, 2024, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. in the Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, 630 S. Hanover St., Carlisle with Pastor Michael Tichnell officiating.  The burial will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery, Newville. www.Since1853.com .
