Obituary

Retta Jane Turner, 95, of Carlisle, passed away on Tuesday, August 5, 2025, at Chapel Pointe, Carlisle.  She was born on December 9, 1929, in Carlisle and was a daughter of the late William Earl Kough and Anna Catherine (Adams) Kough.  Jane was the widow of Billy Ray Turner who passed away in 2012.

Jane graduated in 1948 from Carlisle High School.  She had worked at the Carlisle Barracks, the Naval Supply Depot in Mechanicsburg, and was the head cook at the Crestview Elementary School for several years.  Jane retired as the office manager from Turner Hydraulics, Carlisle which her late husband established.  She was a long-time member of the Order of Eastern Star-Old Bellaire Chapter.  Jane enjoyed traveling, square dancing, being a den mother for the boys and girl scouts, watching the wildlife around her feeders and was affectionately known as the "Cookie Lady."

She is survived by her children, Beckey (Alan) Shover of Carlisle, Conny (Tom) O'Handly of Abingdon, MD, Billy Turner II of Carlisle, and Danny (Janet) Turner of Shippensburg, one sister Martha Stitt of Newville, 9 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by one brother Robert Kough.

A private graveside service will be held at the Cumberland Valley Memorial Gardens, Carlisle.  Condolences may be left at www.EwingBrothers.com.
