Obituary

Philip J. Ruegg, 92, of Carlisle, passed away on December 24, 2024, at The Bridges at Bent Creek, Mechanicsburg.  He was born on March 14, 1932, in Winchester, VA and was a son of the late John R. Ruegg and Dorthea K. (Hindley) Ruegg.  He was the widower of Evelyn J. (Sillers) Ruegg, she passed away on September 17, 2018.

He was a 1951 graduate of Duncannon High School and attended Lock Haven University.  He started out his working career in the flooring industry, the railroad, and L. B. Phillips real estate before he started "Phil Ruegg Real Estate" where he was the owner/broker.  Phil attended The Meeting House in Carlisle.  He was a former member of the Carlisle Club, Elks, Eagles and an honorary member of the Deer Haven hunting camp in Sullivan County. He also enjoyed fishing, hunting, trapping, and playing in pool leagues.

He is survived by three children, P. Jed (wife, Kathleen) Ruegg, E. Lorraine "Lorrie" Rhoads, both of Carlisle and Brian Scott Ruegg of Gardners, 5 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.  Philip was preceded in death by one son, Steven C. Ruegg, who passed away on Feb. 1, 2006, and two brothers, Thomas J. Ruegg and Herbert Ruegg.

A visitation will begin at 12:00 p.m. on Monday, January 6, 2025, followed by funeral services at 1:00 p.m. in the Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, 630 S. Hanover St., Carlisle.  Burial will be in Ashland Cemetery, Carlisle.  www.Since1853.com.
