Philip J. Huntzinger, Jr., 92, of Carlisle, passed away on Thursday, August 8, 2019 at Chapel Pointe, Carlisle.  He was born on May 26, 1927 in Carlisle and was a son of the late Philip J. and Mary E. (Swigert) Huntzinger, Sr., and was married for 72 years to the late Freda S. Huntzinger, who died on August 6, 2017.

Phil was a 1945 graduate of Carlisle High School and served in the US Navy during WWII.  He worked in construction most of his life and retired after many years of service with Gannett Fleming as a resident engineer in construction management.  Phil formerly worked for Reisinger Brothers and J. E. Hurley.  He was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, Carlisle, Carpenter's Local 287 and a life member of the Knights of Columbus Council 4057.

He is survived by one daughter, Christine H. Houser of Boiling Springs, three sons; Philip J. (Kathryn) Huntzinger, III of Carlisle, Michael L. (Saundra) Huntzinger of DeSoto, TX and Stephen L. (Judy) Huntzinger of Mechanicsburg, 12 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by one brother, Paul L. "Bunk" Huntzinger.

Private services will be held at Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, Carlisle.  Burial with military honors by Cumberland County Honor Guard will be in St. Patrick's New Catholic Cemetery, North Middleton Twp.   Visit www.Since1853.com to send condolences.
