Peggy Joan Shughart, 76, formerly of Carlisle, passed away on Wednesday, July 10, 2019 at Falling Spring Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Chambersburg.  She was born on March, 25, 1943 in Gardners and was the daughter of the late James W. and Luella (Young) Starner and was the widow of R. Fred Shughart who passed away in 1986.

Peggy graduated from Carlisle High School.  She worked for over 20 years at Green Ridge Village in Newville, where she was a CNA and Activities assistant.

She is survived by one son, William F. (wife, Jane) Shughart of Mercersburg, three granddaughters; Madelyn L. (Shughart) Valdes, Mackenzie R. Shughart and Morgan E. Shughart, one step-granddaughter, Victoria E. Bankson, one step-grandson, Sean A. Bankson and one great-granddaughter, Alice Valdes.

Funeral services will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 16, 2019 in the Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, 630 S. Hanover St., Carlisle with Rev. Michael Baughman officiating.  Burial will be in Cumberland Valley Memorial Gardens, Carlisle.  A viewing will be Monday evening from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home and on Tuesday from 10:30 a.m. until time of services. www.Since1853.com .
