Paul L. Snyder, 83, of Carlisle, died Thursday, October 25, 2012, at Forest Park Health Center, Carlisle. He was born on Thursday, May 30, 1929, in Carlisle, a son of the late Martha (Woods) Snyder.

Paul served in the US Army during WWII. He retired from Unisys Corporation in California, where he was a traffic manager. He was a life member of V.F.W. Post 477, Am-Vets Post 274, both of Carlisle and the Hub City Club and the Minnequa Social Club, both of Shippensburg. Paul was also a member of the Mt. Holly Springs American Legion Post 674.

He is survived by one son, Barry L. Snyder (and wife, Debbie) of San Jose, CA, one daughter, Beverly McClain (and husband, Harry) of Lakeside, CA, one brother, Donald Snyder of San Diego, CA, one sister, Betty Rotz of Chambersburg, his companion and friend for more than 20 years, Shirley A. Shughart of Carlisle, three grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Paul was preceded in death by his grandson, Paul and one sister, Peggy Sollenberger.

A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, October 31, 2012, at 1:30 p.m. in the Cumberland Valley Memorial Gardens, 1921 Ritner Highway, Carlisle, with Revs. Jeffrey W. Kettering and Gerald L. Day officiating. Military honors will conducted by Cumberland County Honor Guard. Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, Carlisle, is in charge of arrangements.
